About MaiML
MaiML (Measurement Analysis Instrument Markup Language) is an open XML-based format
for describing measurement and analysis workflows together with samples,
experimental conditions, results, provenance, and related metadata.
The MaiML ecosystem provides specifications, XML schemas, software libraries,
developer tools, and end-user applications to improve interoperability,
reproducibility, traceability, and long-term data utilization.
Standards
The specification and requirements of MaiML are defined by the standards below. The Japanese Industrial Standard was established in 2024; the international standard is currently under development.
JIS K 0200:2024
Measurement analysis data format (MaiML), established as a Japanese Industrial Standard in 2024. It defines how the structure, identification, relations and history of measurement and analysis data are described.

ISO standard
The international standard is under development: a working draft is being prepared ahead of a new work item proposal. It is a proposal independent of the existing JIS.

Operational Guideline
Recommended operational procedures for connecting the identification, structure, relations, provenance and signatures provided by MaiML to UUID issuance, key management, access control, preservation, discovery and vocabulary management. Informative: it adds no conformity requirements to the standard text or the XML schema.
MaiML Operational Guideline
Applies to the MaiML Working Draft and schema release 1.1.0. The English edition is a working translation that has not been independently approved.
Manifesto
A stand-alone document stating the design principles behind MaiML as a ten-article manifesto. It is non-normative and a pre-approval draft; the specification and its requirements are defined by JIS K 0200 and the MaiML schema.
